The Human Factors Interest Group (HFIG) at the University of Toronto is pleased to host the 19th Annual Human Factors Engineering Inter-University Workshop (IUW).
We invite you to a day-long event filled with networking opportunities for student researchers and members from industry to share their ideas and latest work in human factors and ergonomics.
IUW is an annual student-run workshop that attracts research students, professors, and industry members of the human factors and ergonomics community. Each year, the workshop is hosted among the University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, and SUNY Buffalo. We invite students to present their research in the form of a podium or poster presentation.
In addition to welcoming practitioners from industry to attend IUW to learn about the latest academic research and network with potential recruits, we are excited to announce that this year, our gold sponsors, CIBC, Healthcare Human Factors, and TD will all be recruiting at the event!
IUW is a welcoming environment to share ideas, get feedback, and gain experience presenting academic work. We encourage all students to participate, regardless of prior experience at academic conferences.
This year we are excited to have an expert reviewer from industry who will provide feedback on the presentations. We welcome Dr. Philip Farrell, a senior Defence Scientist at the DRDC Toronto Research Centre. This opportunity is made possible by the generosity of Defence Research and Development Canada.

The Human Factors Interest Group (HFIG) is a student chapter of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, based at the University of Toronto. HFIG was founded in 1981 and has now grown to 22 core members and 320 associate members. Our chapter strives to inform our members and the community about the relevance and importance of human factors in a variety of domains, current research on our campus, and potential career opportunities.
