The Human Factors Interest Group (HFIG) is proud to be hosting the 19th annual Human Factors Engineering Inter-University Workshop (IUW 2018) on November 17, 2018 at the University of Toronto. This day-long, conference-style event is a unique opportunity for student researchers to share their work in human factors and related fields, at any stage of their research.

Submissions pertaining to all application domains of human factors and ergonomics are welcome. Researchers outside of human factors, but whose work examines the relationship between people and technology, tools, or systems, are also invited to present. Presentations are not limited to completed studies — we welcome presentations about work at any level of progress. We are accepting work in the form of either an oral presentation or a poster.

We invite interested graduate students as well as senior undergraduates to submit an abstract no longer than 300 words describing their research:

  • Abstracts describing completed projects must include the following information: background, objective, methods, results & discussion, conclusion & contributions.
  • Abstracts describing works in progress must include the following information: background, objective, methods, progress to date & future work, expected contributions.

Applicants invited to present will give a oral presentation of 10 minutes, with 4 minutes allocated for questions. Applicants who are not selected to present may be invited to share their work as a poster at the event.
